When you consider the body style of your guitar, there are really only a few "rules" you need to follow. The Neck must be dead center, straight, and follow the scale length. This is the length of the Nut to the 12th fret and doubled. That is where the strings need to touch the bridge. Aside from that, you are free to do anything. Like a beautiful figure, guitars are typically 12", 8", 13". 

Bodies can be solid. Semi-hollow body or hollow body. You can have a clear finish with selected wood species or a solid color. If you are thinking about a semi or full hollow-body, consider the shape of the F hole. Sometimes I can design a guitar around the design of the F hole. 

The neck is one of the most important parts of a guitar, if not the most important. We use mostly Maple and Mahogany. We can modify any neck to your playing style. We find many players like a slightly thinner Nut to fret 3 than most production builds. You also have nearly unlimited options for your fingerboard. You also want to think about the scale length you prefer

Traditionally, frets are made of nickel. Nickel has a nice, warm resistance and is generally easy to work with. While they do wear, they are preferred by most mass-production guitar makers. 

Stainless has gained notoriety and popularity. While it is very hard to work with, it will last the lifetime of your guitar. 

There is a tonal difference that can be compensated by the bridge, nut, pickups, and strings. 

You also have the option of scale length and number of frets (20,21,22,24)

There are a number of bridges to consider. Roller, wrap-arounds, and dual posts are great to play on, but they also need an angled neck. Flat plates and  bolt-ons give you a few more options, whereas  a tremolo limits some of your body options due to the through-body cavity required

You have a litany of control configurations. Choose between volume, tone, and blend pots. You can control splits, parallels, and series using push/pulls, mini toggles, or a super switch. Try something new with a kill switch.

Small yet still important are knobs, PU frames,  control covers, pickguards and output covers.
